Gain Self-knowledge: Through their service learning projects, students will see themselves as part of their community and gain self-knowledge of how they can make change and impact their community.
Overcome the naive view of: Students will overcome the naive view of that middle school students do not have the ability to make a difference or make change within their community. Students will also overcome the naive view of not having student choice within their daily classroom assignments.

Assessments
Formative:
- Students effectively communicate the ability to explain ways in which they make a difference in their community. (Presentations)
- Students will complete daily self-assessments on their progress during Genius Hour using the "3-2-1" sheet. See Appendix or click here.
- Students will complete Student Blogs noting their progress through out the project.
- Students will be graded on their final project in which they will be required to show their learnings through a presentation in any format they wish. Encourage students to be creative with their presentation and to make it fun and lively, like their projects. Students will be on their knowledge, stage presence, organization, speaking voice, and creativity. Please see presentation requirements and rubric in "Presentations" tab.
